Earthport is developing an open account trade payments service alongside US software group Adobe and a major UK financial institution. The solution will be available as an on-demand service, known as BaaS - Banking as a Service.
The BaaS system handles the entire lifecycle of import and export documentation, foreign exchange and payments through an online web2.0 application which is set to be marketed to Lloyds TSB's small and medium enterprise client base as an alternative to open account pre-payment using non-bank payment channels.
